Blog inspired by Angela and Shelle
Finally took the time to put this site together so I can join the blogging world...my inspirations: Angela and Shelle. I am on a Monday, off work with no real plans other than to weather the heat...maybe make some lunch, pick up the Stephanine Plum, girl bounty hunter book in a bit, after going to get the mail.
That is an interesting thing...going to get the mail...I had always lived in a place where going to get the mail entailed opening the front door and at most taking a few steps, maybe 20 feet, open the mail box and walla...there is your mail for the day. Moved up here to the high desert, by Joshua Tree (19 years ago, now) and getting the mail entails either walking 4 miles there, 4 miles back, after 1:00pm and before 4:00pm Monday thru Friday or gas guzzling it in my car down Reche Road. It really is much more of an adventure and I never ever, ever take getting the mail for granted these days.
On days that I work, which is more often than not...I don't get to get the mail. And on those days, I just know that the check that I have been waiting for all my life that says I am now indepentantly wealthy is there waiting for me. If I don't pick it up in the next day or two, that letter will somehow, mysteriously get snagged and lost in the mail system for another indefinate period of six to eight weeks, at which time there will be another attempt at delivery. I really don't think it'll be there today...THEY know I am off work today and coming, but if somehow I can get the mail tomorrow...when I should be at work and there really is no way I can get it...well that is what I live for!!!
So this is my official first entry...I'll send out invites to all I know (yes, that is you) to join in and maybe we can get something going here...or not...but now to food and a book and the mail.
